Rockies and Central US short-range Snow forecast

Snow has been plentiful for many resorts across the region, with stand out spots seeing from 12 to 20 inches over the past couple days.  Unfortunately we’re heading into a period of wetter snow through the end of the week.

There is a cold front due tonight, which could mean Thursday will be a better day than Friday and the weekend, but with all this wet snow and the strong winds that are expected through the region, it looks like conditions could be a bit dangerous.  The NWS is issuing an avalanche warning for the west facing slopes especially.  The stand out resorts in the area are still looking at 5 to 20 inches of snow through the end of the week.  Just don’t expect powder days as the snow density is looking quite a bit more than earlier this week.

If you are heading to the mountains or just want to see what sort of conditions have been hitting your favorite slopes, click the regions below and you will be able to find a list of the resorts in that area.

Rockies and Central US Long-range Snow forecast
The snow forecast for the weekend is looking pretty good with stronger low dropping down out of the north and promising to bring a healthy round of snow to the region on Saturday.

That sizable system due for the weekend could be followed up by more disturbed weather through the first part of next week, offering a continued chance of snow through at least Monday.

Another large frontal system is expected to move across the Great Basin on Monday, which could bring another round of snow for the early half of next week. Numbers are hard to say, but it could mean another round of light to moderate snow, especially for the southern Rockies.

Beyond that, it looks like high pressure could build for a brief period mid-next week, but another large possibly wet system is setting up for a possible dumping before next weekend.

Stay tuned and happy hunting
